Aesthetic and Technical Details of BABEYN BOYTU
The Two Sacred Gates Babeyn Boytu features two sacred gates on its opposing faces: on one side, the Gate of the Kaaba (Beytullah), and on the other, the Prophet’s Gate of Masjid al-Nabawi.
Embodying the philosophy that "a door is only a door when it is opened," these are not mere reliefs. We have designed the gate wings using Zamak casting, allowing them to open and close like functional doors. The door knockers, rings, and the intricate locking mechanism of the Kaaba Gate were produced as separate components, remaining faithful to their original forms. This meticulous attention to detail brings a realistic aesthetic and tactile sensitivity to both the Beytullah and Masjid al-Nabawi gates.
Form, Border, and Pedestal The central calligraphy band, designed in the form of a Crown Gate (Taç Kapı), features an engraving of Ayetel Kursi. Both this section and the pedestal are adorned with delicate Hatâyî (stylized floral) motifs. The addition of a pedestal ensures that Babeyn Boytu stands out with dignity in any environment, while offering a customizable feature for the user.
Material and Craftsmanship The main body is crafted from high-durability polyester, allowing for exceptional detail. We applied a metal-pigmented base coat followed by a hand-applied aging process, giving the piece historical depth and an aesthetic soul.
Texture and Architectural Detail The surfaces surrounding the gates are inspired by the ashlar (cut stone) texture of the Kaaba’s walls. This slightly rough, textured finish creates a sophisticated play of light and shadow, enhancing the three-dimensional volume of the piece.
Calligraphy and Metallic Effects The calligraphic bands above the gates were created using a high-relief system, meticulously following the original compositions. This includes:
- Oval and circular calligraphic plaques.
- Rectangular embossed friezes.
- Intricate ornamental borders modeled in high relief.
By combining gold leaf shading on zinc alloy with oxidized black accents, we achieved a multi-dimensional metallic effect that stays true to the spirit of the original monuments.
The Threshold of Peace The thresholds on both sides are designed to evoke the "smooth transition" one feels when entering these sacred spaces—inviting the observer not just to look at the gate, but to experience the refinement and elegance that lies within.
